The Department of Campus Safety is pleased to announce that the 2011-12 edition of the Spring Arbor University Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report is available. An electronic copy of the report is available here. Hard copy versions will be available upon request which can be made at the Campus Safety Office.

Additionally, it contains the Annual Fire Safety Report regarding fire safety and fire statistics in on-campus housing.

The publication also includes three-year statistics of reported crime, including bias-motivated crimes, on the Spring Arbor campus as well as off-campus sites and adjoining properties in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

Additional safety and security information, including crime alerts and daily crime incident logs, can be viewed on the Campus Safety website at http://sites.arbor.edu/campussafety If you have any questions, please call us at 517-750-6911
Be sure to secure your belongings, room, office, laboratory and vehicle at all times and report suspicious behavior to campus safety immediately. Help keep our campus safe!

The Campus Safety Department consists of Director Thomas D. Fiero, Lieutenant Justin Guenther, Sergeant Earl Karcher and 14 student patrol officers who receive training in basic campus safety officer procedures, emergency medical procedures and CPR.

Campus safety patrol officers are not armed. They conduct foot and vehicular patrols of the campus and residence hall areas multiple times a day. In addition, by request, they transport students and staff in the nighttime hours.

Campus safety patrol officers have the full authority granted by Spring Arbor University to enforce the rules and regulations as outlined in the Student Handbook, Staff Handbook and the Motor Vehicle Handbook. They have the authority to detain students, request identification and will immediately involve law enforcement agencies if criminal activity is observed or reported. The campus safety department maintains a working relationship with local, county and state police agencies.

Campus safety, as well as the residence life staff, enforce the campus-wide ban on possession and use of alcohol and illegal drugs. Possession of dangerous weapons or firearms anywhere on campus, including the residence halls, is a violation of the Student Conduct Code.
