Before you get started with Blackboard (a.k.a. SAUonline), you will need to become familiar with the MySAU Portal (if you are already familiar with MySAU and have your username and password, click here to skip this step). The MySAU Portal is a one-stop shop for many of your academic needs, including the Academic Schedule Planner, Blackboard and e-mail. You can access MySAU at any time by typing https://mysau.arbor.edu into your browser’s address bar.
The first step you will need to take is to activate your account…
What you will need
- SAU ID number
- Last four digits of your SSN (if applicable)
Step 1
Go to https://mysau.arbor.edu and click on the Activate Account link located along the left-hand side of the screen. In the first step of the account activation process, you will need to enter your SAU ID number and last name. Once you have typed this in, click Continue to Step 2.
Step 2
On step 2 of the account creation process, enter your birthday and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (if applicable). Then, click Continue to Step 3.
Step 3
This step deals with setting a challenge question. If you ever lose your username or password for MySAU, this question will be used to help you retrieve your information. You can choose any question and answer combination you would like. Just make sure you will be able to remember the answer a few months down the road. Double-check for typos.
Once you have your challenge question and answer typed in, click Continue to Step 4.
Step 4
Step 4 is the triumphant conclusion in the account creation process. Your new username and password will be displayed on the screen. Be sure to write this information down or print the page off.
Please note that not ALL parts of your account will work right away. This is because our little tech gnomes are putting on the finishing touches on your account permissions. Wait about ten minutes and then log into MySAU by entering your username and password in the text boxes along the top of the screen. Click the Login button to complete the process.
The automatically-generated password MySAU gives you is pretty secure. In fact, it is so secure that it’s pretty much impossible to remember. Once you log into MySAU, click the Change Password link along the left-hand side of the screen to pick a new password that you will be able to remember.
MySAU will be the central base you work from to access Blackboard, email, grades, billing information, and more.
Please note that it may take up to two hours after your account has been activated on MySAU before it will start working with Blackboard.
