Blackboard Updates & Intro to Clickers
Randy Meredith answered some questions from September’s meeting regarding Blackboard’s Grade Center. He also announced a Blackboard 9 service pack update to take place October 8 which would address many of the issues faculty have had with the Blackboard 9 migration.
After a Q&A time with Blackboard, Randy introduced faculty to a new clicker system tool. The clickers, purchased by the Office of Academic Technology, are available for all faculty to use in their classrooms. Randy demonstrated how they work as well as suggested potential uses. Dr. Betty Overton-Atkins reported that the Office of Academic Affairs purchased two additional clicker units for a total of three that are available. Clicker systems are simple to use but require a 30-minute orientation before use in the class. The units will be available to check out at White Library. OAT staff is also going to be available at White Library for clicker consultations Mondays and Tuesdays from 2-4pm.
