Tara McCoy

Lead Instructional Designer

With her Education Specialist, Ed.S, in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University, Tara works with on-campus, adjunct, and online faculty to develop new courses as well as redesign existing courses. Her primary focus consists of supporting the following programs:  Communication (MCOM), Business (MBA), Organizational Management (MSM), Nursing (MSN), and Endorsements. Gwen Hersha

Instructional Designer

Gwen is a graduate of Spring Arbor University’s Master of Arts in Communication program – one of SAU’s first online graduate programs.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from John Brown University.  She works with campus, adjunct, and online faculty to develop new courses as well as redesign existing courses.   Her background in Education, Communication, and academic work with the university gives her a well-rounded approach to instructional design.  Her primary focus is Education (MAE), Communication (MCOM), Spiritual Formation and Leadership (MSFL), Communication (COM), CORE/Interdisciplinary Studies (COR/IDS), English (ENG) and Religion (REL).  She enjoys teaching COR 100 Discovery in the Liberal Arts and has begun a new role as Staff Advisor for SAUs Chapter of Mu Kappa International – a group of Third Culture Kids (TCKs).

Michelle Dawson

Instructional Designer

Michelle works with campus, adjunct, and online faculty to develop new courses as well as redesign existing courses. Her primary focus is undergraduate courses in Business (BUS), Education (EDU), Foreign Language (SPA and GER), Management of Health Services (MHS), and Organizational Management (ORM). She also supports the graduate programs in Reading (RDG) and Teaching English as a Second Language (TSL). She has years of classroom experience, having taught speech, broadcasting, and advertising at SAU.  She holds an MA in Advertising from Michigan State University and a BA in Communication from Spring Arbor University. You may recognize Michelle’s voice from her work in broadcasting.  She and her husband Dave hosted a nationally-syndicated morning radio show for five years on the Family Life Radio network.

Online Course Editor

Susan works with Instructional Designers in the identification and revision of quality concerns in new and existing course developments. Her primary focus is to ensure clear and consistent communication across the entirety of the online course, including Blackboard, the syllabus, and other documents. Prior to joining OAT, Susan worked in the publishing field as a copy editor / page designer and reporter for daily newspapers in Florida and Michigan. She holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies (Communication and Letters and Modern Languages) from the University of Central Florida.

Ryan Donahue

Web Media Designer

Ryan manages content and acts as lead editor for the OAT website. He develops video, manages springarboru YouTube Channel, and creates Blackboard training materials for SAU faculty and administration. Ryan intends to start his Bachelor of Science and Business from Spring Arbor University this fall.
