SAU benefits from our adjunct faculty who extend their expertise from their professional world into our classrooms. Thanks for your contribution!

As an adjunct professor, you may feel like you are not always “in the know” when it comes to the day to day business of SAU. SAU has launched a new student success initiative with the mission of, Connecting the right student, to the right resources, at the right time; offering SAU students the best opportunity to succeed. This section of the Student Success Portal is both an invitation and explanation of how you can take part in this initiative.

In brief, the Student Success Portal is here to connect you to resources that some of your students may need. The main function of the Student Success Portal is for faculty and staff to submit a Student Alert for a student who may be struggling in your class and may be in jeopardy of leaving school in general. If you are wondering what justifies sending a student alert, the Student Success Power Point presents different reasons for submitting an alert. Our attitude is, if you aren’t sure, just fill out the alert and the Student Success Operational Managers for the particular program you teach for will take it from there.

After reading this short memo, I would ask you to click through each of the links below. Following is a short description of each link:

Alert Quick Guide: instructional tool to learn how to submit a Student Alert.

Student Alert Form: quickest route to submitting a Student Alert.

Resource List: a handy list of services, departments and programs we offer to help students succeed. These may be the very departments that respond to the Student Alert you submit.

Reference Flier: this is a copy of the flier we have handout out to serve as a visual reminder of the Student Alert Program as Student Success Portal.

Follow-up Handout: once a Student Alert is submitted, the Operational Manager for the program the student is enrolled will initiate an intervention. This handout is a useful guide that gives tips on how to effectively follow-up with a student.

On behalf of SAU and the students in your classes, thank you for your work. If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the members listed as Student Success Contacts.

God Bless,

Kim Hayworth
