This year, coinciding with the Midwest Regional CITA Conference (Friday and Saturday, October 11th and 12th) is the CITA Midwest Secondary School Theatre Festival, taking place from Thursday, October 10th – Saturday, October 12th. For more information and to register for the High School Theatre Festival, click here www.cita.org . The purpose of the Festival is to give high school theatre students an opportunity to sharpen their skills through competitions, interact with colleges and discuss scholarships and programs at the College Fair, and to be encouraged by Christians working in the theatre. Students in public, private, and home school settings are encouraged to attend! For questions regarding the festival please contact Dr. Dale Savidge at firstname.lastname@example.org.
With our Midwest Regional CITA Conference we’re hoping to establish a growing festival portion. So what exactly do we mean by festival portion? Along with workshops for a variety of training and experience levels, we’re experimenting with a theater festival feel—essentially trying to showcase as many plays, one-acts, one-person shows, and readers theater as we can in a 24 hour period! The Spring Arbor University site will have THREE performance venues and several workshop spaces to witness a wonderful array of theater showcases.
Perhaps what’s more important is our desire to see this Conference and Festival serve as an annual opportunity to showcase the new productions of theater troupes and individual thespians from throughout our region.
So… as Spring Arbor University hosts the 2013 Midwest Regional CITA Conference and Festival, anticipate the following:
- Three venues to witness lots of theater!
- A variety of workshops for training and refreshing!
- Opportunities for networking and team building!
- Announcements of new contests and redemptive silliness!
- Ten minute play contest for 2014
- Playwrights’ retreat in the summer of 2014
