Recent Changes in APA/MLA

Recently both the APA and the MLA updated their citation style guides.  For more detailed information on these citation styles, we have print copies of the new guides in the library or you can view some of our online citation resources.  Check out the short slide show highlight the a few of the major changes in citation styles.

Communication & Mass Media Complete (EBSCOhost)Provides access to quality research materials in areas related to communication and mass media. Some Full-Text.

Communication Abstracts (EBSCOhost) covers major journals in communication, mass media, and other closely-related fields of study to create a research and reference resource that encompasses the breadth of the communication discipline. Containing over 235,000 records.

InfoTrac Communications and Mass Media Collection (Gale InfoTrac) A custom collection of more than 100 journals focused on all aspects of the communications field; key subjects covered include: advertising and public relations, linguistics, and literature.

Internet Resources

Ad*Access – An extensive on-line database of over 7,000 advertisements concentrating on five main subject areas: Radio, Television, Transportation, Beauty and Hygiene, and World War II.

Consumer Expenditure Survey (Bureau of Labor Statistics) – The Consumer Expenditure Survey program provides information on the buying habits of American consumers.

Entrepreneur – This website contains a number of articles about marketing, public relations, business, and more.

Institute for Public Relations – IPR is an independent nonprofit foundation that focuses on research that matters to the practice, providing timely insights and applied intelligence that professionals can put to immediate use.

Interactive Advertising Bureau – The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) is comprised of more than 500 leading media and technology companies that are responsible for selling 86% of online advertising in the United States. Includes advertising information, reports, and more.

PRaxis/PRism – PRaxis was launched in 2003 as a public relations and communication resource and meeting space for academics, students, and industry practitioners. A key feature of the site is PRism, which to the best of our knowledge is the world’s first free-access, wholly online, refereed public relations and communication journal.
