Director of Bands in the Department of Music
Mark Douglass has enjoyed a diverse career as a composer, conductor, drummer, percussionist, and educator. His performances span from Detroit’s Jazz Festival to the renowned Bourbon Jazz Festival in Paraty, Brazil to America’s own Carnegie Hall. Equally comfortable with jazz and classical music, Mr. Douglass’ compositions have been performed in recitals and concerts on every continent. Mr. Douglass specializes in the music of West Africa, Northern India and Persia. He currently lives in Spring Arbor with his wife (lyric soprano Emily Douglass), their sons Lincoln and Beaumont, and their dog, Bella.
