Nikie Oechsle currently serves on the adjunct faculty at Spring Arbor University. She has taught at multiple community music schools and music academies in piano, theory, and composition, as well as teaching music courses and private piano at both Central Michigan University and Louisiana State University. She has given master classes and lectures in piano, pedagogy, and the Alexander technique for pianists and has been active in coaching chamber groups.
Nikie is a nationally certified teacher of music in piano through the Music Teachers National Association, and has been an active member of the state and local chapters in both Michigan and Louisiana, creating and building up programs for adult learners and aiding in the development and execution of a state-wide high school performance competition. Oechsle has also been active as a soloist and collaborative artist.
Oechsle holds a doctoral degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Louisiana State University, masters degrees in both piano performance and composition from Central Michigan University, and undergraduate degrees in piano performance, piano pedagogy, and biology from Spring Arbor University.
